Ginger Crush {A finished quilt top}

I finally finished sewing together all the parts of my version of Ginger Crush, a BOM by Emma (Treehouse Textiles) and Cathy (Cabbage Quilts).

The depth of colour is hard to capture with the camera, but you get the general idea here. It has lots of lovely little details and was fun to sew because of the variety of blocks. The pattern had very detailed instructions so it was a breeze to follow.

Now I'm pondering quilting options. In the pictures of the original it has lots of chunky handquilting accenting the colours in places which I really like - I'm just a bit daunted because it's quite a big quilt. Plenty of time to ponder options though...

  1. If there is no deadline involved, I'd hand quilt it! Even machine in the ditch first, and add hand quilted accents. It's gorgeous!

  2. No hurry Megan, hand quilting makes great winter project. It is a very subdued colour palette compared to what I normally see you working with. Looks lovely and restful though.

  4. A very pretty finish Megan! The soft muted palette was what caught my eye initially, but I also love the different way this sampler is set! Definitely a hand quilting project for over winter!

  6. This is lovely, there is so much detail you don't initially see... and an interesting -lovely- colourway.

  7. Yay! I love the happy little details in this. And the palette. Such a great quilt. You could always do a combination of handquilting and machine. Handquilting would definitely be a nice added detail to this kind of quilt! But it looks like from your subsequent post that maybe you already chose a hand project?

  8. I love the softness of this and would love to see it in real life! I think handquilting would be great fun to add to it.
