Fun with hexies
I have to be honest. For the longest time I have disliked hexies. Too fussy, too nana-ish, way too slow to make, I could go on... Then the strangest thing happened - I made a little flower and found myself wanting to make more! I've got my eye on Katy's Hexy MF quilt-along, but haven't made any sort of commitment in my mind yet. Two flowers seems like good progress so far, but I hate to think how many I would need to make in total. I can't seem to ever follow a pattern exactly as it is, so my Hexy MF will be 'in the style of' if I decide to make a quilt. Helen P showed me how to make the hexies - it was probably the glue pen that sold me. Really speeds up the whole process.

Ooh they look so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a hexie fan myself but I do admire when other people make things with them!
Is there any ironing involved or is it just fold and glue?
ReplyDeletePretty hexies! I have never seen a glue pen like that, off to search the tinterweb ;-)
ReplyDeleteyour hexies are so fun! where is the gluestick from? and are you able to remove the paper after that easyli and is ist possible to re-use the paper?
ReplyDeleteI'm doing Hexy MF and right now I'm liking the basting but my mind is already wandering to "Wouldn't it be better glue these?" It won't be long now before start gluing.
ReplyDeleteI'm also doing hexies and I'm interested in the glue stick and wondering how hard/easy it would be to get my cardstock patterns out.
ReplyDeleteJevne
I've stayed away from hexies for some of those same reasons. I do like to look at them though. Yours look great!
ReplyDeleteI am very intrigued by that glue pen. The flowers look great, I love how perfect the shapes are! The amount of hexies in that quilt does seem a bit overwhelming!
ReplyDeleteGood effort. My mother has finished a queen sized top using this pattern. I keep hoping she will give it to me. No such luck.
ReplyDeletehow clever of you!
